  • Parking and Cars on School Grounds

Whilst Twin Sails Infant School & Nursery and Hamworthy Park Junior School are two schools, we operate as one, under the Federation. Therefore, we have one main front office, situated on the Twin Sails Infant School site. This site has a driveway, with 26 parking bays, a turning area and 2 blue badge holder bays.

The staff car park is for staff only on both sites. These are closed to parents and carers as they are used as a walkthrough for our children and families. Safeguarding is of paramount and therefore request that visitors do not drive through this during our school day.

Drop Off

We strongly encourage parents not to drive to school, where possible, as our driveway serves over 600 hundred families - over 800 pupils. The school have plenty of scooter and bicycle racks around the school grounds. Parking comes as a first come first served basis.

In the morning the school gates open from 8.30am. We offer a “drop off” zone around our roundabout in Twin Sails Infant School and this is for Year 2 children and above only. Nursery, Reception and Year 1 children must not be dropped off at the roundabout and left to walk themselves into class. This is for safety reasons.

The driveway of Twin Sails Infant School gets extremely busy between 8.25 and 8.45. Please avoid the area if possible during these times. If you need to enter the driveway, please be aware that delays should be expected due to the volume of traffic. You must drop off in the drop zone only. Please do not let your children out of the car whilst in the road.

There is strictly no parking in the roundabout drop off zone at any time. Parking is not permitted in the Twin Sails Infant School & Nursery staff car park or Hamworthy Park Junior school staff car park at any time. Please leave the two disabled bays for blue badge holders only.

Ashmore Crescent provides access to Hamworthy Park Junior school by foot, cycle or scooter. No motor vehicles will be allowed access during drop off and pick up times in Ashmore Crescent.

Drop off is patrolled by school staff and volunteers to ensure everyone’s safety. Please respect their guidance and support.

Pick Up

For safety reasons, Hamworthy Park Junior and Twin Sails Infant School visitor car park is closed to all traffic between approx. 1.30pm and 3.15pm. Parents/carers must park off site between these times. The school realises that parking close to the school is difficult but the school is unable to control this.

Unauthorised parking in the school car parks will be dealt with firmly to keep our pupils and other pedestrians safe. Please be respectful to our neighbouring properties and their residents. Parking is not available at the Cornerstone Academy, Hamworthy United Football Ground or Hamworthy Lodge. Please also avoid normal parking restrictions e.g yellow lines. If a parent/carer is a blue badge holder or has significant mobility issues, please contact the school office.
