School Lunches
Nursery Pupils - All Nursery Pupils who stay for lunch provide their own cold packed lunch and sit with their peers, normally in the Studio room at Twin Sails Infant School & Nursery. We have up to 4 friendly, trained staff who look after the children at lunchtime. Please see the Parent Portal page for details on how to book Nursery lunch sessions.
Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 Pupils - These pupils are entitled to a free hot lunch under the Government scheme called Universal Infant Free School Meals. This is different to the Free School Meal entitlement under Pupil Premium. Alternatively, pupils can bring in their own cold packed and healthy lunch from home. All pupils normally eat their lunch in the school hall, one year group at a time.
Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 Pupils - These pupils will either purchase a hot lunch from our provider (see details below) or provide a cold packed and healthy lunch. Hot lunches are currently eaten in the Hamworthy Park Junior school hall and packed lunches are normally eaten in classrooms. However, where space permits, some classes will also eat in the school hall.
Good food and good food culture has been shown to lead not only to healthier, happier and more fulfilled children, but to improved educational attainment.
The Government based scheme aims to provide healthy meals for pupils based upon the School Food Plan (see www.schoolfoodplan.com).
Hot School Meals
These are provided by our supplier Chartwells.
To register and order meals for your child, please log onto: www.dorset.mealselector.co.uk
When you register your child, please ensure that you tick the box for Free School Meals (ONLY FOR RECEPTION, YEAR 1 and YEAR 2 pupils as well as Junior School pupils who are entitled to Free School Meals). Please contact the School Office to check. Please also check that your child is registered to the correct class.
Once registered, meals can be ordered for any day, week, or whole term, amendments can be made online at any time until cut off time of midnight on Sunday - 14 days before the full week in which the meal is to be served.
We have included a help guide below to show you how to register and book meals.
Please ensure that your child brings a lunchbox to school for any days that a meal has not been ordered as we will not have spare lunches to provide the children.
Please also note that if a hot meal is ordered, this is what the child will eat at lunchtime. They will not be able to eat a packed lunch as well.
**IMPORTANT NOTICE**
