Kindness Week
Here at Hamworthy Primary School, we take pride every year in raising the awareness of antibullying. With 2023's theme being "Make a noise about bullying", we thought it was important that our children understand what bullying really means. This way, they know when and how to speak out and "make a noise" if they see it happening.
In our "Kindness Week" this year, lessons were delivered through informative assemblies and in classrooms across each year group. Each year group looked at a specific area of this subject from:
Reception: Kind hands and kind play.
Year 1: What is bullying? What does kind behaviour look like?
Year 2: Types of bullying (Mean, rude or bullying).
Year 3: Similarities and differences of face to face and online bullying.
Year 4: Bullying vs banter (online dares).
Year 5: Discrimination and conflict resolution.
Year 6: Peer pressure and why does bullying happen?
This was to ensure a progression in our understanding of this important subject.
As ever, our children never failed to amaze us with their enthusiasm, sensible attitude and knowledge.
As always, our "Kindness trees" stood proudly in our entrance halls where children shared their ideas of what their acts of kindness look like.
