We are thrilled to have recently announced the opening of our Junior school library. We have created a new enticing environment where children can visit each week, to browse our choice of books and then select one to take home and enjoy with you. We are continuing to invest in more books, to encourage children to develop a love of reading. The wide variety include a range of authors, as well as a broad assortment of non-fiction relating to children’s’ interest.

This term has seen the recruitment and training of our new librarians. This group of children from Year 6 have been working hard to maintain the library and create a welcoming space for the children to enjoy.

Our next development that will be coming soon, will see the library being expanded beyond the library room, to neighbouring areas creating ‘Love to Read’ zones, where children can enjoy reading and sharing books together, in other comfortable, relaxed book areas.

To encourage and develop our ‘book worms’ in the school, the librarians will also run lunch time clubs, where groups of children will be able to relish the love of reading in the library.

Children are regularly visiting the library each week with their teacher, and are becoming responsible library members, by having their own individual barcode which will enable them to borrow a book of their choice. Each book is registered on our school system, meaning we are able to keep record of where each book is.

Important information:

· The books can be borrowed for up to 30 days and this can be extended if they are still reading the chosen book.

· The book must be returned before they can borrow a different book.

· Only one book can be borrowed at a time.
