Medical Information
We support any child with a short term or life long medical need. It is important that these needs are identified upon admission to the school to ensure provision is in place and staff training organised. For any child with a significant medical need, parents and carers will need to complete an individual health care place, in conjunction with the SENCo, first aiders, external health teams and the class teacher. These are updated as and when changes happen and reviewed annually.
It is important that parents keep the schools updated with all medical needs.
Where needed, the schools work very closely with our School Nursing Team - 01202 691520
Risk assessments may need to be carried out for individuals, either for long term medical needs or a short term injury or need.
At the end of each term, long-term medicines are sent home so that parents and carers can check expiry dates and order replenishments where needed, in readiness for the start of the term. If at this point there are changes to a child's prescription and/or medical provision, the form will need to be updated and signed.
Short Term Medication
If your child is prescribed a short term course of medication such as antibiotics, the school can administer these within the school day. Due to staffing levels, we ask that as many doses as possible are please administered at home.
Please note that we are unable to administer creams, eye drops or ear drops to any child.
