Art
“Art is as natural as sunshine and as vital as nourishment.”
-Mary-Ann Kohl
Art Curriculum Intent: Our aim is to provide a stimulating environment for our students to explore, develop, and express their creative ideas through painting, drawing, sculpture, and printing. We will help children become confident in a variety of different techniques and build their knowledge of famous artists, designers, and craft makers.
Our curriculum will focus on skill and knowledge progression, providing opportunities for children to ask questions, experiment with different mediums, and demonstrate their skills in various ways. We aim to instil in our students a lifelong appreciation for art and design, and to empower them to express themselves in imaginative and creative ways. |
Art Concept Overview
Summer 2 Sketchbook Share. The children were invited participate in a home sketchbook share through Summer Term 2. The children created their own artwork in response to various themes and prompts, or they could fill in their sketchbook with their own preferred drawing styles. We were so impressed with the results of their hardwork.
Twin Sails Infant School and Hamworthy Park Junior School celebrated the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in style with a week long arts project, in conjunction with The Power House Poole and artist David Bowers. Together we produced 7 mosaic plaques to celebrate the 7 decades of the Queen's reign, held a joint HPJS and TSI art week and exhibition, in which parents were invited to look around both exhibits. We also displayed our artwork at The Lighthouse Theatre in Poole, held drama workshops in school and at The Lighthouse, as well as welcoming over 1000 parents to a whole school singing concert in our school grounds, which included a specially commissioned Jubilee song by local singer/songwriter Ali Sharpe.
